I live in juxtaposed, contradistinct worlds I guess. Maybe most of us do. However, I split my time these days hanging out with 4th and 5th graders teaching math and also preparing for upcoming concerts as a professional musician with Orchestra Kentucky: worlds that are about as opposite as can be. In addition, and most importantly, I spend my time being an awesome, simply awesome husband, father and grandfather (ok, maybe not always so awesome...sorry family). Seriously though, I'm coming off the holiday high and returning to reality, and you know what, I'm thankful for my life and I what I have been given to do. I like my reality. I have taught long enough now to have students who are married and have their own children and just this last week I received a note from one who thanked me for the impact I made on her life. Wow. What more could someone want? Why am I telling you this? I just want to go on record by saying at the outset of this new year that I: 1) Love my wife; 2) I love my children; 3) I love my grandchildren; 4) I'm thankful for my job and having the opportunity to make a difference in this world; 5) I'm thankful for musical opportunities; 6) I'm thankful for my friends; and, 7) Most importantly, I'm thankful that the Lord knows me through and through, yet still loves me. Let's all evaluate honestly and we'll see that we have a lot for which to be thankful.
Have a great first work week this 2010!

Bless you for sharing! How refreshing to "hear" someone being thankful in this day of whiners and complainers (I above all!).
God has truly blessed you abundantly. Thank you for unselfishly sharing your life and impacting so many for eternity.
